"The .hack//SIGN Toonami intro and Giant Robot Week promo(s) will go up after I get home from work(s) tomorrow 'round 10:30pm e.s.t. if thing(s) don't go wrong.

...of course, Zogg could stop whining about his TV reception and do some capturing work for once, but that's as likely as me coding PHP.

...of course, If our monthly donations reach above $8,000/month, Zogg and I promise to quit all jobs and school and just work on TDA full time.
Update from Zogg 2 days later: I still say there's no way you could live on only $35 a month... and my TV reception is still bad. (I definately have the easier job. I don't have to endlessly watch TV to try and grab promos. Bwahaha.)

Giant Robots, Giant Surprises!" Posted Tuesday, January 28, 2003, 10:06AM by TylerL
"Straight from the horse's mouth:
It's a battle of giant metal machines during Toonami's first Giant Robot Week, Monday, Feb. 24 - Friday, Feb. 28 from 4-5 p.m. (ET, PT) each day. The weeklong special event presents some of the best action/animé series ever created starring huge fighting machines. Giant Robot Week comes to a smashing conclusion with a special presentation of the acclaimed animated feature The Iron Giant on Friday, Feb. 28, at 8 p.m. (ET, PT).

""Giant robot"" series have been a staple of animé since its beginnings, and Cartoon Network pulled out all of the stops in search of the best examples of this genre ever with series such as Dai-Guard and Nadesico, which have never before been seen on TV in the U.S., as well as Evangelion and Robotech. Giant Robot Week also will include segments from the classic series Gigantor along with Cartoon Network""s first original ""giant robot"" short, Lowbrow.

What? Gigantor? Dai-Guard? Nadesico?!? Evangelion?!?!?
Click Read More for the rest of the story!
Thanks to Vincent Benenati of Animation Insider for the heads-up!

Evangelion - A deadly war is waged between the mysterious aliens, the Angels and mankind's last hope, the Evangelions. The giant bio-mechanical Evangelions are the only forces that can withstand the Angels' defense fields long enough to attack the massive invaders. (Monday, Feb. 24 and Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 4:30 p.m. (ET, PT))

Dai-Guard - Giant invaders have attacked the earth and the only force strong enough to defend the planet is a giant robot, Dai-Guard. The only problem is that the robot is defective. A young team of workers must stop the aliens, while concealing the defects in their robot. (Thursday, Feb. 27 and Friday, Feb. 28, at 4 p.m. (ET, PT))

Nadesico - The planet is under attack and the space fleets are powerless to stop the invasion. An inexperienced crew consisting of a cook, the General's ditsy daughter, geeks and misfits are sent into space to save Earth. (Monday, Feb. 24 - Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 4 p.m. (ET, PT))

Robotech - Robotech Defense Force, led by Captain Gloval and his cadets, is the only hope for survival after giant alien spaceships invade Earth. (Wednesday, Feb. 26 - Friday, Feb. 28, at 4:30 p.m. (ET, PT))

Our goal at Toonami is to bring the finest action cartoons out there to our fans, and there's no doubt we love 'giant robot' shows,"" said Sean Akins, Toonami Creative Director. ""When we first started talking about Giant Robot Week, these are the series that popped into our heads. This will be an incredible week for our viewers.""

To conclude Giant Robot Week, Cartoon Network will air The Iron Giant, the heartwarming 1999 feature about a young boy and the alien robot that crashes into his life.

Japanese Shonen Jump Editor Passes Away Posted Saturday, January 25, 2003, 8:44PM by KnuxFive
"Shonen Jump, the collection that premiered the hit Toonami shows Dragonball, Dragonball Z, and others, has been struck a blow as the Japanese Editor-In-Chief suddenly passed away January 24th. Takahashi Toshimasa was discussing the new One Piece movie when he collapsed. After being taken to the hospital, he was declared deceased.

Takahashi was apparently in good health for a 44 year-old. Shonen Jump recently came to America as a hit book, containing Yu-Gi-Oh!, Dragonball Z, Yu Yu Hakusho, Naruto, One Piece, and Sand Land.

Our sympathies go out to his family.

And Image Comics Will Form The Head! Posted Friday, January 24, 2003, 12:05AM by KnuxFive
"It's becoming a problem. It's an epidemic. The '80s MUST BE STOPPED!

::Ahem:: Image Comics has announced that a ""Voltron: Defenders of the Universe"" comic will come out in May. Dreamwave Productions will be cranking out Issue 0, while Devil's Due will due Issue 1 (and I'm guessing subsequent issues).

As you'll remember, Voltron was a mainstay of Toonami back in the day. It had a crappy CG American spinoff, which luckily never tainted our favorite block.

Jack in! Rumors.EXE, activate!" Posted Thursday, January 23, 2003, 1:03PM by KnuxFive
"Rockman.EXE, the animé series based off the hit Gameboy Advance games of the same name, will be coming to America sometime this year, thanks to Viz Communications/ShoPro USA. The news was broken by Hamtaro's producer in a Newtype USA interview.

Due to Hamtaro's airing on Toonami, and the upcoming games, chances are that Megaman Battle Network (The english dub) could come to American television, if not Toonami.

Click ""Read More"" to do what it says.

Megaman Battle Network is the latest incarnation of Megaman. Featured in two GBA RPGs, there's a Gamecube game (Megaman Battle Network Transmission, a 2D side scroller with 3D cel-shaded graphics) and two versions of a GBA game (Megman Battle Network 3, in Blue and White versions, another RPG) coming out later this year.

In the future, everything is connected to the Internet. Users access it through their Net Navis, digital friends that can traverse the Internet. Net Battles are held for pride and protection. Lan is a regular boy with the help of his Net Navi, Megaman.EXE, just might be destined for greatness. They will have to team up with human friends and their NetNavis, mainly Protoman.EXE and Roll.EXE, to fight World Three, an evil organization led by Dr. Wily, bent on destroying the Internet.

The series could very well be destined for Toonami. It's marketable, it's action, it's adventure, it's anime, and it's not Adult. Since ShoPro is releasing it, it's even very likely.

Sources: Animation Insider for point out that it was in Newtype USA, and thanks to John Crichton's Japan Hero for reminding me about the games. So sue me, I never finished 2.

Note- Anonymous, we got your submission... ironically after I made the stroy. Well, thanks anyway.

TOM's Favorite Games- Cheaper and Ported Posted Thursday, January 23, 2003, 12:35PM by KnuxFive
"Well... if you've watched Toonami in the past few months, you've seen TOM review Beach Spikers, Pikmin and Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee.

XBox is getting an upgraded G:DAMM, while the GCN gets cheaper Pikmin and Beach Spikers.

Click the ""Read More"" link to get the full scoop

Well, XBox is getting an upgraded G:DAMM with a new monster and new arenas, along with other features. TOM gave Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee a 6 out of 10, which is good for ""button-mashing fun"". The game was made by Atari, originally just for the Nintendo Gamecube.

For the budget gamer, Best Buy is selling Beach Spikers for $9.99 this week.Beach Spikers, the less-perverted of the volleyball games out there, garnered a 7 out of 10, and TOM said there was ""something about it that grabs me"".

Nintendo appears to finally be doing their ""Player's Choice"" series with the Gamecube, by announcing that Pikmin, among others, will be sold for $29.95. Pikmin was the first Gamecube game TOM reviewed, giving it a 9 out of 10, saying ""it's only downfall is that it's too short"".

One Piece of the GBA Market... Posted Tuesday, January 21, 2003, 4:38PM by KnuxFive
"Banpresto has announced that From TV Animation One Piece Mezase: King of Berry will be released for the Gameboy Advance in Japan this Spring. Simple as that.

Curious why it's here? Well, One Piece has been HEAVILY rumored to come to Cartoon Network, and any Japanese GBA game can be played on any American GBA system. The wonders of region-free game systems...

Can't play Budokai? Want another Legend? There are solutions... Posted Monday, January 20, 2003, 8:07PM by KnuxFive
"Sad that you're stuck with a PSone? Want a new game for the upcoming GBASP (Which'll still play on GBA)?

Apparently, Dragonball Z: Ultimate Battle 22 is set to be released in America for the PSone on March 26th. I wouldn't be surprised at a name change, but it hasn't been stated. It WILL be in english, naturally. Also, Dragonball Z Legacy II: Future Shock will be out on June 25th for the GBA.

This also might be the only chance to mention it, so... don't forget, there is a Gundam Battle Assault 2 PSone game out there. It's very under-advertised, rarely reviewed (Anyone know of a review?), and probably good and cheap.

Remember: All normal GBA/GBC/GB games can be played on the GBASP and the Gamecube GBP, and the majority of PSone games can be played on the PS2.

A World of Endless Blue... now with a Special Edition DVD! Posted Sunday, January 19, 2003, 12:25PM by KnuxFive
"Not a huge story, but a Blue Submarine No. 6 Special Edition DVD has been announced. It will be 2-3 discs, include all 4 OVA episodes, and have your standard assortment of extras.

Blue Submarine No. 6 premiered on Toonami as a four episode special, and has re-aired in Movie format. Multiple discs have been released (1 with each OVA, and a Toonami Movie one), with fans being unsatisfied (80 bucks for 3 hours of animé, or 30 bucks for an edited movie?); this will hopefully sate them.

"I have new files for you. And your stupid friends. And their bags of chips.
I am too tired to add them to the database.
They are here.
Ghost Planet National Anthem is in there too because I said so and it's awesome.
Don't complain. I hate you all.
It's bedtime.
Go away.
I'm trying to sleep.
I mean it.

Superior Defender- We (no longer) need your help! Posted Saturday, January 18, 2003, 10:07PM by KnuxFive
"EDIT- We've got the pics, thanks.

We now have some concrete info about Superior Defender. The Wing Zero is back (With a Knight upgrade), and there is a Dark Axis Zaku. Doesn't sound like much, but we know have proof that Superior Defender is a SD Gundam series. How do we know?

Dragonball GT DVDs announced... Posted Friday, January 17, 2003, 10:14AM by KnuxFive
"Sad that DBZ is ending? Well, on April 15 you can pick up ""Baby- Affliction"" and ""Baby- Incubation"", while on May 20th you can grab ""Baby- Creation"" and ""Baby- Proliferation"", the first four titles of Dragonball GT (16 episodes?).

... I wonder if that's a new naming scheme... with all the ""ions"". Just imagine the confusion (ha!) when kids wonder what happened to ""Z"", see a child Goku, and think it's just Dragonball.

Speaking of that, a new Dragonball feature (""The Path to Power"") and a DBZ World Tournament Saga Box set coming out on April 29th and 22nd, respectively.

"There's been a Thundercats comic. There's been GI Joe comics, along with a Toonami premiere of the show. Transformers... never really left, but there's a G1 comic, along with figure reissues. Battle of the Planets, a show based off the same source material as Toonami's G-Force, has gotten a new comic. The Turtles (Of a Teenage Mutant Ninja kind) have a TV series and figures coming out.

Naturally, the Ghostbusters had to come back.

While it hasn't been announced if it'll be a show, a comic, figures, web-animation, whatever, an announcement will be made in the coming days. Why am I reporting this? Well, if Cartoon Network got the rights to the new (or old) show...

Bandai's New Figures are ''Cast in the Name of Good'' Posted Monday, January 13, 2003, 4:16PM by KnuxFive
"Yes, yes, I know it's ""Cast in the Name of God""... but that wasn't Toonami, now was it?

Bandai's announced that they'll be releasing new Big O figures this year, most likely to coincide with The Big O Season 2, which is possibly coming to Toonami (doubtful) or Adult Swim (heavily favored). There will be 6"" figures (It's unknown of who), and a mega(duece?) size 12"" figure, with lights, sounds, missles, and all sorts of fun things.

Superior Defender- Only Toonami? Posted Saturday, January 4, 2003, 3:45PM by KnuxFive
"According to this article at Action-Figure. Com, Bandai of America has a new series coming to Cartoon Network: Superior Defender. Three robots from three different worlds (The Mobile, Knight, and Musha Defenders) fight the evil Dark Axis. Not much is known of this series, but Bandai is doing it's standard action-figure blitzkreig to accompany the show when it premieres this fall. The description leads one to believe it will be headed to Toonami, as it doesn't sound like Adult Swim material.

Thanks to Optimus81 of the ToonZone boards for pointing this out.

Gundam and One Piece- Get N or Get Out... Posted Thursday, January 2, 2003, 10:45PM by KnuxFive
"Bandai of America has announced that a Mobile Suit Gundam game and a One Piece: Treasure Battle game will be coming out for the Nintendo Gamecube this year.

The Mobile Suit Gundam could possibly be a port of one of the PS2 games (With improved graphics, natch), or it could be an original game (Battle Assault 3?), while One Piece: Treasure Battle is a party fighter, similar to Smash Bros. or Powerstone.
