Giant Robot Week
Robotech
Dai-Guard
Low-Brow or Gigantor
Batman Beyond
Dragonball
And... the third hour.

But, I'm not really that saddened. The stuff on the New Horizon look better than a wasted third hour, IMO.

Gasp... Toonami... sans DBZ? Posted Thursday, February 27, 2003, 3:46PM by knuxfive
"Huh... that's odd.

As we all know, Dragonball Z's final batch of episodes premiere March 17th, along with Toonami's 6th Birthday and Rurouni Kenshin's first run. On March 31st, the Masters of the Universe will rejoin for two week, to be replaced with the Mobile Fighters afterwards. After DBZ's final season is re-aired, fan-favorite Zoids: Chaotic Century will begin reairing.

Also, it mighta been good if we knew of this news yesterday. Robotech.Com is having a contest for Robotech in Giant Robot Week. One of the episodes from this week will be slightly altered from the DVD release. Find the modification, send it in, and possibly win a (Toy) Veritech.

Toonami Episode Guide for Giant Robot Week Posted Sunday, February 23, 2003, 1:44AM by knuxfive
"Here is the schedule for this week's Toonami... dang. This might be a little confusing for you all. From 4-5, Toonami will be featuring ADV shows about Giant Robots. This will be the Toonami premieres of Neon Genesis Evangelion, Martian Successor Nadesico, and Dai-Guard, along with the return of Robotech, with a premiere of a Masters epiosde. Gigantor and Low Brow will be sprinkled liberally, instead of commercials from 4-5. Oddly enough, Gundam is completely missing from the week. Also, this is the final week for Batman Beyond on Toonami... and the third hour.... and quite possibly TOM 2. Something's gonna go down in a month, tops. This is the one week of the year you do NOT want to miss.

Gundam F-91 and Gundam Zeta... partly Toonami? Posted Wednesday, February 19, 2003, 4:08PM by KnuxFive
"Zeta Gundam is coming to Toonami... and Adult Swim... and Saturday Video Entertainment System. Oddly enough, two versions will be made, with it airing on weekday Toonami, being the star of SVES... and who knows on Adult Swim.

The Gundam F-91 movie has been confirmed for CN, but the block is unknown. Maybe they'll pull a Zeta.

"Jaime Kellner.

That name alone has made people mad. He has overseen the Turner networks, and has preferred his child, The WB, over Ted's Cartoon Network. Toonami fans have gotten the proverbial shaft, as this has lead to Toonami being cut as to not interfere with Kids' WB's ratings. Also, many WB shows have appeared on CN, without the vice versa.

Starting March 10th, he is retiring from his postion to ""spend family time"" in California. I would make a joke about demon spawn here...

Comedy site Something Awful has posted an analysis of one of their fights, specifically ""Twenty Questions"". While lacking a reference to Toonami, it does manage to keep the Cartoon Network logo, so chances are they got it from Toonami.

Tenchi Muyo Season 3 pics online Posted Saturday, February 15, 2003, 9:10PM by KnuxFive
"What? I couldn't think of anything funny.

While Tenchi may have unofficially ended in America, it's still going on in Japan with Tenchi Muyo! GXP and a third part of the Tenchi Muyo! OVA. This third part will finish off the first chapter of the Tenchi Masaki saga, introducing a new character with Light Hawk Wing abilities, and focusing on the war of the Goddesses.

There has been no word on if it will come to America (But very likely), or if it would come to Cartoon Network (Very likely), or even Toonami (Possible...), but... heck, it features our favorite sexuality-questioned hero (What? He lived in a house with hot chicks and never made a move until a movie... and that was his daughter...).

"The Saturday Night Toonami block isn't Toonami.

Cartoon Network has aired a promo for the Saturday Video Entertainment System. It's just an action-adventure block, without TOM... unless this is the new look, but... it's most likely not. This would have been the Toonami premieres of Justice League, Pokémon, and YuGiOh, but... it's not. This would be the home of new episodes of He-Man, .hack//SIGN, and Armada, but... it's not Toonami. Toonami will only be 10 hours a week, instead of a possible 17. We've lost Super Saturdays, Rising Sun, and the Midnight Run. Rurouni Kenshin is all well and good... but it'd be nice to have a new block... all the shows have aired on Toonami in one way or form!

"Don't jump my case, I collect action figures with the best of them.

Toyfare 2003. Many Toonami figures are coming out, and some Toonami news might be subtly announced here.

Dragonball-
JAKKs will finish up the figures Irwin has made, and will continue their lines, with a standard line, Striking Z, Energy Blast, and Movie Collection. Dragonball will get a 5-inch scale line. Most of the DBZ figures seem to be based off of the current season, with some based off the movies. A Tenkaichi-Budokai ring will be coming out (Some of JAKK's wrestling influence?), absorbing Buu, and role play toys. Basic 2-Packs will be coming out.

Batman-
Uhh... he's got some figures coming out.

Justice League-
Same.

He-Man-
Continuing their line.

Transformers Armada-
Repaints out the wazoo, including some Beast Wars. Unicron is also coming out...

Superior Defender-
Almost guaranteed to be Toonami, the first American-Made Gundam series will be getting treated well. Models, action figures, card games... Also, it seems this series WILL be having many many Gundam series, like G Gundam, Wing, 0083, Endless Waltz, Mobile Suit...Source: Figures.Com

In most cases, when a Gundam series came to America, it kept it's name. There was no Superior Defender series in Japan. So, people assumed it was one of the SD Gundam series.

Well, Jeff Harris was right, it's all-American. The first American Gundam series. With it's style... this will most likely be... only Toonami.

Step into the Grand Tour... Posted Wednesday, February 12, 2003, 3:30PM by KnuxFive
"Well... it seems that if Dragonball's the close translation of it's original series, and Dragonball Z is the ""Began off, but got it back"" series, Dragonball GT is the ""Screw every otaku over"" series. With a new logo (which people will whine about, no matter if it's really worse or not), a new theme song (better than Dan Dan, but then... many songs are better than Dan Dan... IMO), it also seems that they're skipping episodes, starting with the Baby Saga.

Click ""Read More"" for questions (SPOILERS)...

Source: The Official Dragonball GT Website

Okay... as I understand it, Dragonball GT starts with Goku turning into a kid, thanks to an old enemy. Goku, Trunks, and Pan go off in space...

FUNimation's only mentioning a ""Baby Saga"", which, if I'm correct, would be the saga where Goku fought Baby (Don't say Bebi, this is America), but I've heard that doesn't come 'till later

Anyone got a clue?

Pioneer Coins the Term ''Ridiculously Overpriced'' Posted Wednesday, February 12, 2003, 3:16PM by KnuxFive
"To celebrate Pioneer's 10th year in the American Animé business, Pioneer will re-release the 13 episode Tenchi Muyo! OVA in four volumes, with a coin in each, on March 18th.

As you might know, Pioneer currently has a $100-plus DVD box set of the series. All I'm saying is I got 26 episodes of The Simpsons, with commentary (So, 2 audio tracks) and special features for 30-40 bucks. Why Pioneer can't do this.... I swear, I would see more animé if it wasn't so costly.

"Giant Robot Week promo started today. Go get it.

Also, as many of you know (or not), Toonami will be getting a new look on March 17th.
A major new look.
Not one of those wimpy Post-Intruder looks. I'm talking about a Moltar-TOM era new look, only without a totally new concept.
Take a look at Toonami.com to see what I'm babbling about.

Well... I'm not really sure if ALL those shows have aired on Toonami, but... they mighta aired during the Moltar or Powerzone days. Heck, one show HAS Moltar in it... Chances are likely that these don't have Toonami intros or anything, since they all have regular intros. But... from the commercials, we've seen that the NBA stars interview them, which would be interesting... if they were captured... to possibly be stored in a Digital Arsenal.

Kikaider on Toonami? And a BotP clarification... Posted Tuesday, February 4, 2003, 8:07PM by KnuxFive
"Apparently, Kikaider is coming to Cartoon Network (Very likely Toonami) in June. It is based off the sentai Kikaida which was mega-popular in Hawaii.

In Battle of the Planets- The New Exploits of G-Force, some clarifications have been made. They're taking the 105-episode Gatchaman series and coming up with new scripts, using those episodes as a base. Kinda like Robotech... but based off one series.

EDIT- Want to get an idea of what Kikaider looks like? Check this, with major thanks to nemalki.

Toonami in March- This is our birthday present? Posted Tuesday, February 4, 2003, 4:57PM by KnuxFive
"Ah.... February. The introduction of .hack//SIGN and Giant Robot Week. Also, the end of three hour Toonami.

Coming in March, Toonami goes BACK to the two hour style, with a ""new"" show and new episodes. (It's still listed with the Adult Swim rating), who knows.

Click ""Read More"" to do that.

Source: Matt Wilson of the Toon Zone boards for the heads up, and Cartoon Network for my own personal sluething

Starting March 3rd (Unless Johnny Bravo is now a Toonami show and PPG returns) Toonami will air from 5-7 on weekdays. The schedule is...

5.0- Transformers Armada
5.5- G Gundam
6.0- Yu Yu Hakusho
6.5- Dragonball Z

Assuming the Saturday Night block is officially Toonami, Super Saturdays as we know it are gone, replaced by...

7.0- Max Steel
7.5- Dragonball
8.0- He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
8.5- Zoids (New Century/Zero)
9.0- Transformers Armada
9.5- G Gundam
10.0- Justice League
10.5- Justice League
11.0- Batman Beyond
11.5- Superman
12.0- .hack//SIGN
12.5- Gundam 0080
Unsure 1.0- GI Joe?
Unsure 1.5- Superfriends?

On March 1st, TFA and MOTU begin new episodes. .hack//SIGN will still continue new episodes. On March 17th, the final season of DBZ kicks off.

So, shall we break it down?
- Loss of one hour of daily Toonami
+ New episodes of Transformers Armada, He-Man, and Dragonball Z+ New to Toonami shows Justice League, Max Steel, Yu Yu Hakusho
- Zoids: Chaotic Century will not finish another run
+ Return of Toonami shows Superman, Zoids: New Century/Zero, Gundam 0080, and possibly GI Joe and Superfriends
+/- Two of these shows had runs on Adult Swim, which will anger somebody out there (Althought Gundam 0080 premiered on Toonami...)

COMMENTARY- Ehh... I could go without Zoids:CC and Dragonball for a while...

Another One Rises from the Dust... Posted Monday, February 3, 2003, 4:12PM by KnuxFive
"(Sorry, that was supposed to come off as a ""Another one bites the dust"" ripoff, but it sucks)

Sandy Frank Entertainment has announced that ""Battle of the Planets: The New Exploits of G-Force"" is in production of 52 episodes for the fall of 2003. Ocean Productions will be producing it as a combination of new animation and old-school Gatchaman. Reportedly, the Battle Special will feature a fight between G-Force and Zoltar resulting in the destruction of G-Force's HQ.

Gatchaman came to Toonami in it's G-Force incarnation, and was part of the final, original Toonami Midnight Run incarnation. It is currently being revived as an American comic book.

Toonami Episode Guide for the Week of February 3rd Posted Sunday, February 2, 2003, 9:45PM by KnuxFive
"Here is the schedule for this week's Toonami.

Transformers Armada has ended it's run of new episodes, so... the only new episode is .hack//SIGN on Saturday. I've resigned myself to the idea that Toonami won't get a new look until Feburary 24th. Also, lack of a ""Related Episode Guide"" this week; sorry, school comes first (I almost forgot about this), but... do y'all use that one? Use the ""Comments"" function to let me know...
