The name's Rumor, Batman Rumor." Posted Tuesday, November 25, 2003, 2:10PM by Andromaton
"According to Batman On Film, the name most often being bandied about for the upcoming BATMAN 5 role of Ra's Al Ghul is Daniel Day-Lewis, most recently of GANGS OF NEW YORK.

So that puts Christian Bale as Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred, and Daniel Day-Lewis as Ra's Al Ghul with a little Scarecrow thrown in for good measure. Sounds like it could be interesting.

"4Kids Entertaiment has announced that Cartoon Netowrk has picked up the first 40 episodes of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series for Spring of 2004. Where will this property end up? Most likely SVES but who knows, it could end up on Toonami as a Fridays only show. Either way, this is great news for TMNT fans.

Thanks to Kanshisha.

4Kids Entertainment, Inc. announced today that it has licensed the U.S. cable television rights to the first 40 episodes of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Cartoon Network. These episodes of the animated series will be part of Cartoon Network's lineup beginning Spring 2004.

Simensky Leaves Cartoon Network. Posted Tuesday, November 11, 2003, 10:24PM by andromaton
"Quoted from Animation Blast
No confirmation yet on whether Genndy Tartakovsky has jumped ship from Cartoon Network to Lucasfilm, but another major departure from Cartoon Network which can be confirmed is that of Linda Simensky. She had been with the cable outlet since 1995 and was CN's senior vice-president of original animation when she left her post in early October. originally broke the news of her departure and has been following the story since then.

Click read more. Do it. Pepito commands you.

Quote continued from Animation Blast
As of this past Monday, Simensky officially assumed the position of senior director of children's programming at PBS where she will manage the PBS Kids programming block. Linda has long been one of animation's most artist-friendly executives and her departure from Cartoon Network is significant news. The network has been following an ominous path during the past year, evidenced by various executive shake-ups and programming changes, and their loss of Simensky seems to be another indication of which direction the network is headed towards.

Top Toonami Ratings - September 2003 Posted Tuesday, November 11, 2003, 2:51PM by Meteo
"The Top 116 Cartoon Network Telecasts for September are out and 3 out of the 4 Toonami shows made it on the list. ""Dragonball Z"" returned to the list as the highest single episode rating for a Toonami show while both ""Dragonball"" and ""SD Gundam"" made the list with their new episodes.

There were approximately 77 Toonami telecasts in the month of September and thus about 25% of those made Cartoon Network's Top 9% list. It was a excellent month for the block, when compared to the overall network. Overall it was a decent month for Cartoon Network, although lower than the previous month. The lowest number in the Top 116 was an 1.8.

For the complete list and more information click ""Read More""

Here are Toonami telecasts that made the list:

#3: DRAGONBALL Z - 9/18/03 - Thu - 5.5P-6.0P - 2.2
#5: DRAGONBALL - 9/4/03 - Thu - 6.5P-7.0P - 2.2
#14: DBZ Movie ""Cooler's Revenge"" (1st Half) - 9/19/03 - Fri - 6.0P-6.5P - 2.1
#15: DRAGONBALL Z - 9/19/03 - Fri - 5.5P-6.00P - 2.1
#18: DBZ Movie ""Bardock: Father of Goku"" - 9/5/03 - Fri - 6.0P-7.0P - 2.1
#22: DRAGONBALL Z - 9/23/03 - Tue - 5.5P-6.0P - 2.0
#36: DRAGONBALL Z - 9/24/03 - Wed - 5.5P-6.0P - 1.9
#37: SD GUNDAM - 9/24/03 - Wed - 5.0P-5.5P - 1.9
#39: DRAGONBALL Z - 9/22/03 - Mon - 5.5P-6.0P - 1.9
#40: DBZ Movie ""Cooler's Revenge"" (2nd Half)* - 9/19/03 - Fri - 6:35P-7.0P - 1.9
#45: DBZ Movie ""The History of Trunks"" - 9/12/03 - Fri - 6.0P-7.0P - 1.9
#63: DRAGONBALL - 9/22/03 - Mon - 6.5P-7.0P - 1.8
#77: DRAGONBALL* - 9/18/03 - Thu - 6:35P-7.0P - 1.8
#81: DRAGONBALL Z - 9/15/03 - Mon - 5.5P-6.0P - 1.8
#82: SD GUNDAM - 9/15/03 - Mon - 5.0P-5.5P - 1.8
#91: SD GUNDAM - 9/10/03 - Wed - 5.0P-5.5P - 1.8
#95: DRAGONBALL - 9/8/03 - Mon - 6.5P-7.0P - 1.8
#107: DRAGONBALL Z - 9/4/03 - Thu - 5.5P-6.0P - 1.8
#110: SD GUNDAM - 9/3/03 - Wed - 5.0P-5.5P - 1.8

* After IGPX

Other telecasts of note:

#68: ZOIDS (Zero - SVES) - 9/20/03 - Sat - 10:30P-11:00P - 1.8
#76: TOTALLY SPIES (After Toonami) - 9/18/03 - Thu - 7:00P-7:30 - 1.8
#83: ZOIDS (Zero - SVES) - 9/13/03 - Sat - 10:30P-11:00P - 1.8
#101: RUROUNI KENSHIN (SVES) - 9/6/03 - Sat - 11:00P-11:30P - 1.8

Remember, with 28 rated days in September, 24 hours in a day and considering that most CN telecasts are 1/2 an hour long, there were possibly over 1,300 telecasts in the month. Thus, the list only covers shows that placed in about the Top 9% or so. A show could fail to make this list and still have good, great or even excellent ratings.

There were approximately 77 Toonami telecasts in the month of September and thus about 25% of those made Cartoon Network's Top 9% list. It was a excellent month for the block, when compared to the overall network, for this ratings indicator. However, it should be noted that these ratings take into account everybody watching Cartoon Network. With regards to Toonami, CN is for the most part only interested in the 9-14, 6-11 and 6-17 ratings (although other viewers are certainly nice to have as well).

Furthermore, it should be pointed out that the lowest number provided was a 1.8, while in the past the highest has sometimes been a 1.8. Thus, several Toonami telecasts could have easily placed in the high 1.X's and still had great ratings.

Alan should let the masses handle it this time. Posted Sunday, November 9, 2003, 5:46PM by TylerL
"Hey there, TDA's friendly bandwidth leechers.
Another fiscal month ends for TDA/Infolink/P.D.F. on November 28th.

Nobody donated.

That's bad. Tyler can't be throwing over a hundred dollars every month at a hobby. That's not a very good not-a-business model.

Gamecube Gundam? Posted Saturday, November 8, 2003, 3:11PM by TylerL

Genndy Leaves Cartoon Network For Lucasfilm? Posted Wednesday, November 5, 2003, 2:01PM by andromaton
"Quoted from Animation Blast
This could be big news. I've yet to confirm this story, and there is a chance it could be completely UNTRUE, but a reliable source informs me that SAMURAI JACK and DEXTER'S LAB creator Genndy Tartakovsky is leaving (has left?) Cartoon Network and is joining the new division of Lucasfilm specializing in animated features called Lucasfilm Animation. Genndy, of course, is also the director/producer of Cartoon Network's highly touted forthcoming STAR WARS: CLONE WARS mini-series (produced at Cartoon Network Studios and not Lucasfilm). Once again, I must stress that this is UNconfirmed and only hearsay at this moment, but if anybody can validate or refute this claim, drop me a line at amid& (replace & with @).

Batman and the Gang Celebrate Christmas CN Style. Posted Monday, November 3, 2003, 4:02PM by andromaton
"With the holiday season fastly approaching, Cartoon Network has announced it will air a new Justice League half-hour christmas special ""Comfort and Joy"" and the christmas episode of Batman: The New Adventures ""Holiday Knights"" and on December 13th at 10.0 and 10.5 respectively.

Click Read more for a summary of ""Comfort and Joy"". Spoilers ahoy.

The Justice League, comprised of the world's finest superheroes, rushes to complete one last mission to save two planets from colliding before each embarks on a week's vacation to enjoy the Christmas holidays. Flash pays his traditional visit to the Central City Orphanage as ""that jolly man in the red suit"" to bring a special present to the resident kids. Green Lantern decides to show Hawkgirl his favorite childhood games and activities that involve snow, which results in a spectacular snowball fight. Superman, heading home to spend Christmas with his Earthly parents, the Kents, and await Santa's arrival, decides to bring along a depressed Martian Manhunter, who doesn't understand why everyone finds the season so magical. (Batman and Wonder Woman volunteer to serve ""world monitor duty"" at the League's Watchtower headquarters.)

Little does each hero suspect that major surprises await them all. When Flash is asked to produce the hottest toy of the season, a ""DJ Rubber Ducky,"" he is forced to search the world for it. With the doll at last in Flash's possession, arch-villain Ultra-Humanite appears and nearly destroys it. Through an amazing act of goodwill and compromise, Flash and Ultra-Humanite actually join forces to repair the toy and deliver it the anxious kids before resuming their adversarial relationship. Hawkgirl reciprocates Green Lantern's holiday ""gift"" by showing him the place and unique way she prefers to celebrate-resulting in mayhem. One last surprise awaits them both: a secret romance. And Superman's family embraces Martian Manhunter warmly, leaving him the freedom to explore the peace and joy of Christmas Eve on his own. His unexpected experiences that night lead him to compose his own song of joy which he shares with the Kent family.
