March 2001

You wouldn't mock it if you saw the original I had to deal with. Posted Saturday, March 31, 2001, 5:31PM by Zogg
"This update is 2 fold, one of which is me ranting and raving about my VCR. Anyway, part 1 is simple: There's a new World's Finest promo over in the Batman/Superman section.
Part 2 is more complicated: There's a copy of the 1.5 minute Big-O promo in the Big-O section. The quality is strange. My VCR decided to ""forget"" that I wanted it to tape in SVHS-ET EP mode, and just tape in EP mode for a week. So, my copy of the promo is bad. (Who knew that normal EP was so horrid?) Anyway, I managed to do some serious touch up work / noise reduction and make it much more watchable, so it's still definately worth a download if you haven't seen it. There's some lines running through it *shudder* but they don't detract too much. I'll work on getting a better copy, but since Big-O starts next week my chances appear to be slim.
Update from Zogg: Oops, I forgot something important. April 2nd over at Moltar's Hub is a very special chat event. Some CN employees are going to be dropping in to answer questions from fans at 8:00pm eastern. Head on over to Moltar's Hub for more info about this unique event.

Explanations, other stuff." Posted Friday, March 30, 2001, 12:58PM by TylerL
"...There's no new content this update.
[gasp]!
I'm trying to get this damn music video rendered into its final form. My main computer is rendering GM2 (Yes, I know there's only supposed to be one Golden Master, but I have a good reason.) of the video for its Sunday release. 7,192 frames of utter perfection. ^_^
Also, with the final release of Windows Media Player 7 for the Mac, Toonami Reactor WILL now work on the Mac platform. The auto-detect page of the Reactor is still blocking out Mac users, but here's the link that will get you around that - http://www.CartoonNetwork.com/TOONAMI/reactor/index.hi.html

Update from Zogg: Just on a side note, TR doesn't actually require Media Player 7. If you've got 6.4 or higher for the PC (I don't know if this holds for Macs) then it will automagically download the appropriate codecs and play the videos. Long live WMP6.4! Down with WMP7!

Update from Tyler: Nope. Every version of WMP for the Mac is an utter disgrace. None will download any appropriate codecs. 6.3 for the Mac (we never got 6.4...shows how much Microsoft loves us) is good for playing DivX videos, but that's about it.

Update from Zogg: Wow, this is fun. Anyway, I'm lazy and don't think this condones a whole new update, so... for those of you who (like me) have no real clue about Big O, AnimeJump has a Big-O section that explains things quite well. Apparently Mike is Big-O fan. Oh yeah, I know there's a longer Big-O promo and I have a copy on very bad EP tape (don't ask-- long story) that I'll post if I can't get a better copy.

I'm disappearing. Posted Tuesday, March 27, 2001, 11:58PM by Zogg
"Due to time restrictions, I'm disappearing for a few days so I can focus on some tests and such coming up. What does this mean?
1. Don't email me and expect a response right away.
2. Email Tyler to report new-promo sightings.
3. Don't let Pepito take over the site while I'm gone.

Well, that should be about it for me.
Oh yeah, Toonami Reactor officially opened its doors to the public on Monday, so go check it out! Congrats to the TR team for all the work they've done!
That's all for now. Later.

Alternator for a '89 Mercury Sable - cheap! Posted Tuesday, March 27, 2001, 12:27AM by TylerL
Promos for Big O started airing today. I've thrown together a small Big O (hee hee...) section and put it there.
...have I ever told you people that rainbows can be a beautiful thing?

Quick update - small version of the All Your Base music video in the Fan Creations section.
10 or so days and counting...

...it's been over 24 hours. I'm shocked and appaled. [snif]... Posted Wednesday, March 21, 2001, 11:57PM by TylerL
Moved the two Toonami logo promos to the Toonami Download section and added a short DBZ TMR promo to the DBZ section.
I can't think of anything else to out here. It's almost midnight. I'm tired.

...Caution. Incoming upgrade... Posted Tuesday, March 20, 2001, 11:47PM by TylerL
"Fuitad, our most favoritest server guy in the history of the Universe and all related things, has upgraded the server...but all is not yet fine and dandy.
Access time is VERY slow, and we can't even FTP into our site to upload anything. Heck, just getting this update through was a miracle.
I assure you that when we can do out regular stuff-of-justice around here, I'll be renaming the new Toonami promos.
The real names for the two 10 second Toonami logo promos are ""Bubbles"" and ""Blood"", and The Video Formerly Known As ""Stop Transmission"" shall now be known as The Video Currently Knows As ""Mad Rhetoric"".
That'll be fixed as soon as we can...And I'll probably have a few new promos too ^_^

Just 7 more days... Posted Monday, March 19, 2001, 2:19PM by Zogg
"In case you've been buried in a hole and/or haven't watched the CNX message boards lately, Toonami is preparing to debut a new form of online entertainment: Toonami Reactor. The Reactor is setup to create a more interactive online environment with things like games and streaming episodes. That's right, they're gearing up to allow you to watch episodes of DBZ and StarBlazers (Haven't heard of it? Rumor has it you'll like it...) on your computer. They've got a semi-press release up right now, so run over to http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/TOONAMI/reactor/, check it out, and give them some feedback. At this point in time you need to PC to access Toonami Reactor, but with time and success you'll see Mac support as well. That's all I got for now, enjoy it when it opens Monday.

Hey, it's not MY fault..." Posted Sunday, March 18, 2001, 9:33PM by TylerL
"This update exists only to remind me to update our link on AniPike tomorrow morning.
Move along...

I go on spring break for one week and he lets a tyrannical, communist dictator take over the site." Posted Sunday, March 18, 2001, 7:20PM by Zogg
"After a nice, refreshing spring break I decided to sift through all my email. In process I found 2 fan-creation wallpaper submissions (Washu and RyoOhKi) so I added them to the Fan Creations section. Run over there and check them out. (What is it with me and movement analogies? Ehh, all well.)

...just when you though it was safe... Posted Saturday, March 17, 2001, 12:08AM by TylerL
"Thanks to BruceKid, we now have a Toonami ""All Your Base"" music video.
...this one's actually good, I assure you.
It's in the Fan Creations section. Download, enjoy, make your time.

...Yeah. Who IS counting?!? Posted Friday, March 16, 2001, 7:22PM by TylerL
"I've added Toonami 5th Birthday celebration to the Toonami section.
It's quite interesting...considering Toonami first aired in 1997...
...I probably shouldn't have granted Pepito free will, but as long as he keeps converting my video signals to DV streams and stays in his hardware form (his human manefestation is rather unpleasant), he's still under my control. ^_^

Must be a Slow Multimedia Week. Slackers. Posted Thursday, March 15, 2001, 7:45PM by Pepito
"My masterpiece is now complete! You wrote in questions, and I answered some. Now, quickly, go to the rants sections and click on Ask Pepito. Be in awe of my intellect and follow me to my glorious reign as dictator over all!
Oh yeah, and keep emailing me questions for the next edition.

My Time Has Come! Posted Tuesday, March 13, 2001, 10:57PM by Pepito
"I, Pepito, am no longer a puppet of that fool Tyler! My plans for world domination have been set into motion, and there's nothing anyone can do to stop me! Bwahaha
Actually, they just gave me my own section entitled ""Ask Pepito.""
That's right, now you can have your Toonami/Action Toon related questions answered by me right here on Toonami: Digital Arsenal. So, if you're a foolish mortal with a question (if you don't have one then make one up) send it my way at pepito@toonamiarsenal.com and each month I'll pick my favorites and post up the answers. Remember: Send in those questions or I'll sick my communist army on you.

...Huh. Um...okay... Posted Tuesday, March 13, 2001, 6:25PM by TylerL
"Well, it seems like Sailor Moon R will NOT be shown this Friday and that Tree of Might will be taking its place. That's really short notice.
I wonder what happened down in Georgia to mess up their programming for the next few months...
Don't believe me? Go talk to Nemalki. He knows everything...but not why SMR got cancelled. Heck, not even his source knows...

Get up, go to school. Go home, eat. Go to work. Go home, push buttons in planned, orderly succession...all for your enjoyment and leeching. ...Where's my money?" Posted Monday, March 12, 2001, 11:52PM by TylerL
"Since it's late, I might only get two new things up today. (Well, technically, only one new thing.)
I've added the 15 second Sailor Moon R promo and updated the Gundam Wing opening to make it look pretty. Have fun.

Update ~ 1:10am
You people should proclaim your undying love for me. I've added the 30 second Sailor Moon R promo and those two 10 second Toonami logo things. They'll be right here for now...

Update ~ 1:15am
I centered those two images with my bare hands. I'm so cool.

Oh, this'll be fun! ^_^" Posted Sunday, March 11, 2001, 9:54PM by TylerL
"I've added the Tenchi Forever trailer to the Tenchi Muyo! section. This is prety much the finalÈ of Tenchi Muyo! (Until the 3rd OVA series, of course.) Thanks to Genezix Echidnot for the clip!
Also, I've set a release date for my Kryptonite/Gundam Wing music video. (Maybe I'll actually be able to finish it by then.)
At Midnight, Eastern Time (or close to it) on April 1st, you'll be able to download it in MPEG, QuickTime, Windows Media Player, DivX ;-), RealMedia, OpenDivX, 3ivx, On2, and maybe even MPEG-2 format.
It...will...be...glorious!

Oh, you picked a perfect time for spring break, Zogg." Posted Saturday, March 10, 2001, 2:55PM by TylerL
"Since Zogg's in the clutches of huge rocks, thin air and Mountain Time without a capturing setup, I'll be bringing you all the new promos and whatnot for the next week.
...and what a week it'll be...
I've added the first Sailor Moon R movie promo to the Sailor Moon section. Happy downloading.

No mercy! Posted Saturday, March 10, 2001, 12:01PM by TylerL
"Gundam 0080 and 0083 WILL be alongside 8th Mobile Suit Team later this year. So far, I've added the 0083 opening to the Almost Toonami section. Download away.

Also, I captured the one-minute Cartoon Cartoon Friday commercial. You can see it in its full, copycat glory right here...

Sure, they sucker you in with promises... and then they hold back the batteries." Posted Friday, March 9, 2001, 12:35AM by Zogg
"Sure, they sucker you in with promises... and then they hold back the batteries. There's a small slew (hehe, that sounds funny) of Cartoon Cartoon Friday commercials that have been in the traditional Toonami format. And, since spring break starts tomarrow, here's two:

Lets go, Nostalgia Force!" Posted Thursday, March 8, 2001, 11:55AM by TylerL
"I found a 17-year-old commercial for Voltron.
You can find it in the Voltron section. If you go anywhere else, it just isn't the Voltron section. Each sold seperately. Batteries not included.

...2's even worse Posted Saturday, March 3, 2001, 5:45PM by TylerL
I've added the Pilot Canidate opening to the Almost Toonami section.
...That should be it for now unless we learn more about the Gundam series on their way.

166 hours is a long time to wait. Posted Saturday, March 3, 2001, 3:25PM by TylerL
"Jeez... Cartoon Network sure confused us (and others) with their press release.
What the heck is ""Gundam 8's"", anyway?
As far as we can tell, and from what we gathered, Gundam: 8th Mobile Suit Team is definitely coming to Toonami. Its opening is in the Almost Toonami section.
If you have solid, back-uppable proof that Gundam 0080 and 0083 are on their way too, please send us an e-mail.
