Adult Swim (Sunday-Thursday, 11 p.m.-2 a.m.), Cartoon Network's late-night franchise of animated programming for adult viewers, also made a big splash last week, scoring triple-digit delivery and ratings gains among its young male target demos. Highlights of Adult Swim's performance vs. the same time period last year include the following:

Men 18-34 mushroomed by 198% for delivery (264,000) and by 100% for ratings (0.6).

Will the Battle Return? Posted Saturday, March 22, 2003, 9:32AM by knuxfive
"Battle of the Planets, one of the more mysterious projects out there, could be headed towards Toonami...

Gatchaman aired as G-Force on Toonami: Midnight Run back in the day. Gatchaman had also been adapted as Battle of the Planets. Currently, Alex Ross is heading up a Battle ofthe Planets comic, and Battle of the Planets, INC., will be making a new TV series combining old animation with new.

But, Alex Ross brought up some interesting ideas in a Figures.COM interview.

Click ""Read More"" to... you get the idea.

Source/Link: Figures.COM

Mr. Ross mentions airing the series on Cartoon Network, ""which is certainly part of the goal"". He also mentions the possibly routes they could go for the series-

Live Action- It'd be too costly, and wouldn't be Toonami.

Old and New- The current plan, mix old and new animation.

CGI- He was unimpressed by some models that were done.

New Animation- Like He-Man and the Masters.

New and CGI- Like He-Man and the Masters, using CG like the weapons and vehicles in He-Man.

BY THE POWER OF GRAYSKULL, CROSSGEN HAS THE POWER!" Posted Friday, March 21, 2003, 12:53PM by Andromaton
"He may have adventures on the planet Eternia, but the sword-swinging icon known as He-Man now calls Florida home. MVCreations, publisher of the popular Masters of the Universe series as well as additional upcoming all-ages titles such as Space Ace and Dragon’s Lair, has signed an agreement with CrossGeneration Entertainment to produce comic books and trade paperbacks under the CGE banner.

“I’m thrilled to have MVCreations join the family,” stated CGE Managing Editor Ian M. Feller. “They’re a great group of people who are dedicated to working hard and putting out a great product that is suitable for an all-ages worldwide market. With Masters of the Universe as well as the upcoming Dragon’s Lair, Space Ace, and other cool titles that we’ll soon announce, MVCreations have proven that they can do top-notch work on a timely basis. They’re exactly the type of people that CGE was designed to work with.”

“From He-Man to Teela to Skeletor, these larger-than-life characters were burned into the minds of many young fans twenty years ago, and thanks the all-new tales by MVCreations, a whole new generation can take part in their epic adventure,” said CGE Director of Marketing and Communications Bill Rosemann. “Titles such as Masters of the Universe, Dragon’s Lair, and Space Ace are welcome additions to our line-up-and examples of how CrossGen is taking concrete steps to reach new audiences.”

OPTIMUS PRIME

I kid you not, there is a man serving our country with ""Optimus Prime"" on his name tag... wait, do military guys have name tags? We just pray that this doesn't end like Transformers: The Movie.

I'm sure all of us at Toonami Infolink wish him the best and a safe return.

And I'll form the head... of the company! Posted Thursday, March 20, 2003, 3:21PM by knuxfive
"Wait, wrong animé...

Based on the animé Gatchaman, Battle of the Planets continues it's revival with... a company? Sandy Frank Entertainment has established Batttle of the Planets, INC. This company will be heading up television, merchandising, and video game licensing, among other things. Rhino Home Video will begin releasing a box set in June, and Top Cow continues to release the comic. Possible merchandise include trading cards, t-shirts, and the like. A 53-episode television series, combining new and old animation, is in the works for an unknown network by Fall 2003.

G-Force, also based of Gatchaman, aired as part of the final, original Toonami: Midnight Run. With it's subject matter, Toonami seems to be a likely choice to air the series.

"Huh... kinda forgot about this, figured it would be worth noting.

The ""final"" DBZ tapes and discs have come out. They have a Dragonball GT preview, that... well, gives the finger to the fans who will not waver on an alternate GT. Daizenshuu EX has the video file for ya.

Why do I say ""final""? Other than the redub tapes that will eventually come out, there are rumors that the first third of GT will become the final saga of Z. Who knows...

"One of the repetitive things that I somehow find fun is screwing around with imperfect video and making it better.
Playing with sharpness, colors, and contrast, etc. can take a lot of time if you're a partial perfectionist, but the results are good.
Two new files, captured from high quality sources, cleaned up, and compressed:
Original Dragon Ball Opening in Dual Languages - Grabbed from a SVES airing credit, logo and rating free in English. Inverse telecined back to 24FPS, colors brightened, black and white levels fixified. Japanese audio ripped from high quality source and synched up to the existing video. Both versions in one archive thanks to the magic of QuickTime reference videos.
Nadesico Opening - Credit free DVD rip. Sharpened up a bit (Nadesico seems to have been animated on really bad film stock), colors brightened, black and white levels fixified.

Download and enjoy. I'll have some different stuff for you tomorrow.

"Animation Insider Reports: Hasbro held a giant press event on March 12th, and offered people a look into their four big properties for 2003: Transformers, Zoids, GI Joe, and Star Wars.

American Dream Comics was on hand at the event, and webmaster Jay reports that a new GI Joe series has been announced for Cartoon Network at the event.

Read more for a bit more detail.

Details are scarce at the moment, but reportedly, CN will also be airing the new 44 minute GI Joe movie that we reported about earlier, sometime later in the year.

Both the movie and the new TV series will be CGI, and based off of the highly-discussed CGI commercials that have been circulating since mid-2002.

There is no official confirmation from Cartoon Network regarding this news. When confirmed it probably would either air on Toonami or on SVES.

Voice actors. Animation World News has an article up in which 9 of the industries top VO artists are interviewed, one of which is Superman's Lex Luthor, Clancy Brown; it gives a nice insight into the VO world.

"Cartoon Network has scheduled a 15-hour "April Fools Day Monkey Marathon" for April 1, airing from 8am to 11pm (ET/PT).

That's right folks, 15 hours of beautiful, beautiful monkeys. You might be thinking, what 8am to 11pm, isn't Toonami somewhere in there? Yes, yes it is. Sadly for all you anti-monkey loving Toonami liking folk, Tom will not be making in appearance... unless they turn him into a monkey. That'd be sweet.

Click "Read More" Marathon details..

The marathon will consist of a broad mix of cartoons, each one prominently featuring a monkey, an ape, a chimpanzee, or some other lower primate. Among the series and episodes to air: the Bugs Bunny cartoons "Gorilla My Dreams," "Hurdy Gurdy Hare," and "Apes of Wrath"; the Space Ghost episode "Planet of the Space Monkeys"; and episodes from The Banana Splits that feature Bingo the Gorilla in a starring role.

Grape Ape, Magilla Gorilla, Mojo Jojo, and Monkey (from Dexter's Laboratory) will also take star turns. There will also be classic monkey-centric episodes of The Flintstones, Josie & The Pussycats and Super Friends.

"Huh... the Season 1 Box Set of The Big O will be out on April 25th, simultaneous with the Season 2 premiere on Toonami. Ahh... if we were only talking about America...

Yeah, Japan gets The Big 2.O on Toonami. Since Cartoon Network helped create this series, and sincei it's airing on Toonami over there, maybe it WOULD fit on Toonami in America. Edited show (Heck, it may NOT be edited) plus uncut DVDs equals money for CN.

Click ""Read More"" for some interesting facts...

Source: Anime News Network

Let's see, here's how Big O boiled down, production wise.

Heavily influenced by an American series (Batman), and produced by the company that made it's later incarnation (The New Batman Adventures), Big O (Premiered in Japan) came to America and got recognition as part of our Toonami. Cartoon Network (Which began in America) funds another season, premieres it on Japanese Toonami (Ported from America), and later brings it to our shores (Adult Swim? I'm betting Toonami).

So, it's an American-influenced, American-funded, Japanese Animé.

Entertainment
News
Animation

Yes, Animation has it's own third of the Turner Broadcasting pie. Now, I don't know if things are evenly split, but I think if it has it's own branch seperate from Entertainment. Naturally, this can only mean good things for Cartoon Network and that little block we all love. Possibly an American CNX? Who knows, but CNX would be better than Boomerang...

Proof that Toonami shows the best of Animation... Posted Thursday, March 6, 2003, 3:09PM by knuxfive
"The Online Film Critics Society has released their list of top 100 animated films. Naturally, Toonami had to have some contenders...

5. The Iron Giant
- Not much to say... after it's 24 hour marathon, it was the final Lightspeed Movie.

61. The Transformers: The Movie
- Featuring the voice talents of ""the big guy"", who makes everything sound cool, plus... heck, it's current incarnation is on Toonami.

62. Batman- Mask of the Phantasm
- Considered the best Batman film by many...

86. The Powerpuff Girls Movie
- Heavily promoted on Toonami... plus, PPG is a classic Toonami show.

A Glimpse at the New Absolution (UPDATED!) Posted Monday, March 3, 2003, 3:00PM by Meteo
"Toonami.com has just released new images today. They're all close up shots of the new Absolution in different angles (that's the only thing they have on there, other than an image of TOM 3). Check it out sometime today if you can't wait until March 17 (a day which will live in infamy).

That's all!
