Toonami's Next Total Immersion Event Posted Monday, June 30, 2003, 4:07PM by TylerL
"Well, this is official word that Sara will be back in the Toonami universe, and there's an 11 minute ""Episode 5"". Sounds a lot better than the five one-minute-long blips we had before...

Toonami Total Immersion Event (name TBA)
Monday, September 15th - Friday, September 19th ET/PT
Toonami will roll out its fourth integrated on-air, on-line stunt. Tom and Sara will begin an adventure on-air through a series of one-minute interstitals Monday through Thursday, culminating in an 11 minute CGI adventure on Friday. Viewers will also be directed to an online game and a full-length comic expanding on the on-air story. Toonami will also premiere new episodes of Dragonball during the week.

Toonami Schedule for the Week of June 30th Posted Sunday, June 29, 2003, 8:48PM by KnuxFive
"'Till the sun rises on a world without Toonami, they remain the first and still the best. Oooh, it's so sweet.

All new show on the block, all new style to the Guide. Yu Yu Hakuhso is taking a little vaction, but it's coming back soon. This MIGHT be the last week for Kenshin, but do not rely on that. We know better than anyone how Cartoon Network's schedule varies, but don't be surprised if we don't hear ""If you want to taste the ground, feel free to attack me."" Justice League nears the end of Season 1, Dragonball Z nears the end of Season 7, Kenshin gets farther in Season 2, and Cyborg 009 kicks off Season 1.

Budokai Gets a Cubed Upgrade... and Some Eva Stuff Posted Saturday, June 28, 2003, 1:23PM by KnuxFive
"We now return you to your regularly scheduled... well, there's no ""schedule"" per se... Toonami news.

Dragonball Z: Budokai is coming out for the Nintendo Gamecube this fall. We all knew that. But like the upcoming Budokai 2 for the PS2, the GCN incarnation will use cel-shading. Not that big of a deal, but it's notable.

To save news posts, I'll just include this here. Japan is getting a PS2 simulation game... of Neon Genesis Evangelion!? I'm not even going to attempt the name of the game, but you can live as either Ayanami or Asuka. There's always a chance that it could come to America.

New schedule confirmed for July 7th Posted Wednesday, June 25, 2003, 3:10PM by Meteo
"Currently Yu Yu Hakusho is scheduled to end its current run on Friday with the premiere of Cyborg 009 set to take over the timeslot on Monday. It was originally assumed that Yu Yu Hakusho would return sometime later this year, however new information at Toonami.com says it will return much sooner. The latest schedule information says it will return July 7th at 6.5 PM. Rurouni Kenshin is being bumped to SVES. For the full schedule click Read More.

As previously reported the Toonami schedule starting June 30th will be (All Times Eastern):
5.0 PM - Justice League - First Toonami Run
5.5 PM - Dragonball Z - Kid Buu Saga
6.0 PM - Cyborg 009 - New Series Premiere!
6.5 PM - Rurouni Kenshin - Kyoto Arc Premiere!

The next week, starting July 7th, the schedule is now confirmed to be:

5.0 PM - Justice League - First Toonami Run
5.5 PM - Dragonball Z - Final five episodes
6.0 PM - Cyborg 009 - All New Episodes!
6.5 PM - Yu Yu Hakusho - Dark Tournament Saga 2nd Run

However, that week on July 12th, Yu Yu Hakusho leaves SVES and Rurouni Kenshin joins the block at 10 PM Saturday nights. Interestingly also, instead of starting over like YYH did, it looks like RK will continue from where it left off on Toonami. Thus, new episodes will air. You'll just get them once a week instead of five times a week.

Finally some Dragonball Z news. Season 7 ends July 11th. Instead of showing Buu yet again they are jumping back to Namek and starting with episode 58 of all places. Usually if they start around there it is a few episodes back when Goku arrives on the battle field. This time it's in the middle of the Captain Ginyu saga.

To sum up, Yu Yu Hakusho is only gone for a week, Rurouni Kenshin is bumped to SVES as new episodes continue, DBZ plays some episodes unseen in almost a year and a brand spankin' new show, Cyborg 009, starts Monday.

We all better suck up to this guy... Posted Monday, June 23, 2003, 10:34AM by KnuxFive
"Bob Higgins.

That's a name we all should know soon, as he is the new Senior Vice President of programming and developement. This guy is in control of acquisitions of animated series and animés, along with programming, so if you see Hamtaro back on Toonami, it's cause of this guy. Cause of this guy. CAUSE OF THIS GUY! Sorry, got a little G Gundam withdrawal. But, if we get something genius like a three-hour Toonami with the return of ReBoot or something, we all have to thank this guy.

Tenshi no what? Dragon's Drive? Posted Saturday, June 21, 2003, 8:57PM by KnuxFive
"Bandai Entertainment has licensed Dragon Drive and Tenshi no Shippo for release in the US.

With a basic Google search, it appears that Dragon Drive is based off of (or has the same name of) a SNK Neo-Geo game... so it's probably a fighter. Reading a blurb about a Tenshi no Shippo game for the PSone, apparently a guy will have to live with 12 girls for a year.

Depending on the action levels, either of these shows could go to Toonami. Bandai's got a pretty good track record with Cartoon Network.

Wing Gundam! It's Showtime! Posted Friday, June 20, 2003, 11:31PM by KnuxFive
"Banpresto will be releasing Super Robot Taisen D for the GBA in Japan on August 8th.

Why do I bring this up? Toonami classic Big O is in the game, along with some Wing and Mobile Suit Gundams. And... the GBA is region-free. This is importable. But, I'm sure there's a huge language barrier. Magic Box has pictures.

Somebody could adapt this for America. Get past the legalities, have mecha that have shown up here. The Big O versus The Iron Giant, Shining Gundam versus The Powerpuff Dy.Na.Mo., Optimus Prime versus the Dino Megazord. Mmm... Power Rangery...

DC will begin releasing digest-sized Trade Paperback (Think Archie or mangas) based on Cartoon Network and Warner Brothers properties, starting in September with two 112-page Powerpuff Girls volumes. Who knows, they might go back and do the Toonami issues...

Man, why can't Archie do that with Sonic the Hedgehog...?

''Mankind's Last Hope'' has something giant on the horizon? Posted Tuesday, June 17, 2003, 7:42PM by KnuxFive
"A new manga, based on the Neon Genesis Evangelion game, will begin serialization in Japan the October issue of Monthly Asuka.

Yeah, that's not big news, but... on top of the live-action movie, Gainax claims there is a ""big announcement"" this summer. A more permanent Toonami slot? A cheap DVD box set rerelease? A crossover with Tenchi entitled ""No Need for Neon""? mmm.... space pirate Asuka... (Complete guesses, don't take ANY stock in those)

While not on television, Toonami has a clip of Cyborg 009, along with character descriptions and pictures, up on their site. The show is headed towards Toonami Monday, June 30th at 6.0, replacing Yu Yu Hakusho. But, remember that schedules can always change...

I want to live in Metropolis... or Smallville... mmm, Lana..." Posted Monday, June 16, 2003, 11:53AM by KnuxFive
"""Faster than a launching rocket. More powerful than an atomic bomb. Able to leap between worlds with a single bound."" ""... is that a bird, or--? ...looks like a jet... Thank God! It's Superman!""

That's the classic line, as reinvented in Superman: The 10 Cent Adventure. The Man of Steel, as we all know, grew up in Smallville and moved to Metropolis. The real-world Metropolis, Illinois, just celebrated their 25th annual Superman Celebration. People naturally dressed up as the Man of Steel, and Lois Lane from the '50s show and Superman from the '60s Broadway show were there to sign autographs and answer questions.

Man, I woulda loved to gone there. Naturally, Superman has been on Toonami on countless occasions. He showed up in a few Batman: TAS episodes, his own animated series, is a regular in Justice League, and even showed up in two Batman Beyond episodes, along with The Worlds' Finest movie and winning the Batman/Superman vote.

Sailor Moon: Season One Uncut... not Toonami, but wide-release" Posted Saturday, June 14, 2003, 2:58PM by KnuxFive
"As we all know, ADV is planning to release a Sailor Moon: Season One Uncut box set. All 46 episodes from the first season (Sadly, just Japanese with subtitles) will be available for a ridiculous $149.98. That makes that Street Fighter box set I'm eyeing for 50 bucks much more attractive. Anyways...

Rumors were rampant that it would be a limited release, but that's not true. Everyone should be able to find it.

"Like, it was totally, like, confirmed that Totally Spies is not going to be knocking Justice League, or, like, any other Toonami show off the block. It's headed towards the 4.5 timeslot.

With The Powerpuff Girls at 4.0, this COULD mean the return of the Third Hour, but knowing current CN trends, it's doubtful.

Three Transformers Articles in a Row? Posted Friday, June 13, 2003, 11:56AM by KnuxFive
"(Well, I question the validity of the last one...)

Beast Wars: Transformers Season 1 will be released as a box set in August 12th. The price is $59.95 for all 26 episodes.

Beast Wars was the infamous show that dethroned Jonny Quest for a week (With a season premiere, no less!), and a later Transformers incarnation, Armada, premeired on Toonami. Also, the series was animated by Mainframe, the same people who did the fan-favorite ReBoot... which will probably never air again on Cartoon Network.

Word of Transformers movie shoots stock through the roof Posted Thursday, June 12, 2003, 9:57PM by andromaton
"I'm not sure if this is really news but oh well . . . Apparently, after news of the upcoming Transformers movie was released, the stock prices of all companies invloved with said upcoming-not-even-in-prodcution-movie shot through the roof. There isn't even a plot set up yet, and people not only are excited, but also have HIGH expectations. If that level of excitement doesn't force them to make the movie good, nothing will. I, for one, take this as an UBER good sign.

A little more info on Transformers: Energon... Posted Thursday, June 12, 2003, 6:49PM by KnuxFive
"The semi-sequel-to-a-Toonami show-which-is-definitely-coming-to-CN-in-Spring 2K4-but-ANN-said-would-be-coming-to-Toonami so-who-knows that is Transformers: Energon has some more info released. Well, make that pictures. These show that some cel-shaded CGI, possibly minimal like in Futurama or major like in Spider-Man, will be used. These also show that Optimus Prime will not look like either his Cybertronian or Earth forms from Armada.

And while Sonic the Hedgehog has not officially Toonami related, go pick that title up. They're starting a big plotline...

New Season of He-Man = Less Nakedness Posted Wednesday, June 11, 2003, 3:20PM by KnuxFive
"Despite their premeiring on SVES, He-Man's gonna have to return to Toonami someday...

Season 2 of He-Man ain't as mysterious as previously thought. Everyone gets new armor. After November's airing of the two part Season 1 finalé, ""Council of Evil"", Season 2 will kick into full gear with... eh... spoilers abound. If you want some truth, ""Read More.""

Source: Toyfare: The Toy Magazine from Wizard Universe

Season 2 will focus on He-Man and the others donning Snake armor to fight off the Snake Men from Season 1. Everything in Season 2 will have some origin in Season 1, so we've already seen the seeds of evil being planted.

Bandai! MAKE UP YOUR MINDS! Posted Wednesday, June 11, 2003, 2:39PM by KnuxFive
"So, it's new comic book day... dangit... I forgot to do a comic book list, didn't I? Argh...

Anyways, there's a new Toyfare out today. Zeta Gundam on one cover, He-Man on the other. In the Zeta article...

""With Zeta Gundam set to debut on the Cartoon Network in September, it's no suprise that the metallic titans are arriving in toy form.""

Figures are coming. Toyfare says it's coming to CN. Who knows where, but now here's more confirmation- they're not gonna do a toy line on something that's not gonna show up.
Edit by Tyler:Actually, it will be airing on both Toonami and Adult Swim, much like the Toonami/Uncut airings of Gundam Wing in 2001.

Knights of the Zodiac... not Toonami... Posted Tuesday, June 10, 2003, 3:01PM by KnuxFive
"Knights of the Zodiac has been acquired by Cartoon Network. We all knew that, but we had no idea where it would go.

CN will begin airing it on SVES in late August. Now, as it's proven not to be Toonami-bound, I'm not even going to bother mentioning Bandai's action figure plans. Things can always change though, so if it looks like it is headed towards Toonami, we'll restart our coverage of the show.

These'll probably rot in development he... hey, guys! Some movie news..." Posted Tuesday, June 10, 2003, 2:48PM by KnuxFive
"WB is notoriously bad for not getting DC comic movies out...

Reportedly, Warner Brothers is developing both a Supergirl movie and a Teen Titans movie with screenwriter-producer Akiva Goldsman. There has been a Supergirl movie before, but the only Teen Titan to be in a movie was Robin. The Teen Titans movie was probably started thanks to the animated series

Supergirl showed up in multiple episodes of Toonami's own Superman: The Animated Series, while Robin of the Teen Titans was a mainstay in the final episodes of Batman: The Animated Series.

Well, it's no longer ''Young Batman''..." Posted Monday, June 9, 2003, 10:51PM by KnuxFive
"Geeze, right on the heels of Transformers: Energon...

Earlier we mentioned a new series, Young Batman, in the works. Knowing little about it, we assumed that it would just end up on Toonami one day. Now we have more definate facts.

Batman Wired is the name of the new series. It still has some of the Static Shockers behind it. Bruce Wayne dons a high-tech suit of armor in this series. It wouldn't be the first, as the Beyond suit was heavily wired to increase strength and the like. No idea when there series is set, or if it's even set in the established animated DCU.

There's many ways this show could go. Kids' WB, SVES, or even remotely Toonami. Chances are wherever it premeired, it would end up on Toonami one day.

Transformers: Energon is next, eventually Toonami..." Posted Monday, June 9, 2003, 10:45PM by KnuxFive
"We all know that Armada won't last forever...

Transformers: Energon is the next series of figures/comic books/episodes from Hasbro. Coming out in early 2004, the continuing war between the Autobots and Decepticons (No word on Minicons yet) is coming to Cartoon Network with 26 episodes. Now, chances are that they'll premiere on Saturday Video Entertainment System, but chances are also good that they'll be reaired on Toonami eventually.

What the heck is a bonzini? Posted Monday, June 9, 2003, 11:41AM by KnuxFive
"I ran into this as I was gonna work on the schedules (Sorry, sorry, had a Heroclix tourney yesterday)...

Toonami and 7-UP are having a contest for a custom ""bonzini foosball"" table and a Toonami-labeled bag. 2 people get the foosball table and bag, while 100 people will get a bag.

I implore you... DO NOT ENTER THIS CONTEST. I want that bag. I don't need the foosball table, I just want that bag. Tyler can't enter, as he already has a Toonami-labeled jacket. I hate him.

Oh, hey, if I win the bag, I'll get around to scanning the Moltar parts of those Toonami comics I have...

Live Action Sailormoon in Development Posted Saturday, June 7, 2003, 1:43PM by TylerL
"The official Sailormoon website has word from Naoko Takeuchi (creator of Sailormoon) about a new Live Action series scheduled to air in the fall in Japan.
This confirms the rumor from a few days ago.
Check out the official announcement (in Japanese) here.

Following the tradition of Jonny Quest and Hamtaro... Posted Saturday, June 7, 2003, 9:22AM by KnuxFive
"Please... don't shoot the messenger.

Totally Spies, the girl-power spy show that aired on FOX/ABC Family previously, is rumored to return to America on Cartoon Network afternoons. After... noons. What is Cartoon Network's main afternoon block?

...

Yeah. Robert Lamoreaux, one of the head writers on the show, claims that it will make it's return within the next month... ""That's it for Cyborg 009, Totally Spies is next, only Toonami""? Shudder... Tyler calls it crazy. Remember that this is rumor, but... Hamtaro PREMIERED on Toonami, so...

How the heck did we miss this? Posted Friday, June 6, 2003, 10:42PM by KnuxFive
"Apparently, everyone else knew about this but me.

FUNimation has acquired Tenchi Muyo! GXP. This is the series about Tenchi's cousin who joins up with Galaxy Police, the same people Kiyone and Mihoshi worked for. With FUNimation's record with Cartoon Network, chances are great that it would come to Cartoon Network, and since there already is a version out there with visual edits (Japan has two versions... which boils down to whether or not the hot spring scenes include towels), this could get on Toonami.

Why didn't Tyler let me know about this... and why didn't Pioneer acquire it?

Zogg's in Japan.

That's not fair.
I told him he has to make a complete report when he gets back.
Or else.

... the most groundbreaking anim series of all time fully restored- Gundam SEED Posted Friday, June 6, 2003, 10:34PM by KnuxFive
"Blame Tyler for that title...

Huh... we all were wondering what was delaying the obvious choice of Zeta for the next Japanese Gundam series to be dubbed (Superior Defender, the American series, is still scheduled for fall).

Seems that Gundam SEED is next for America, as Richard Cox has mentioned that he has the role of Tohuru (Main character, blonde masked villain? Who is that?). To my knowledge, the show hasn't even finished airing in Japan.

Depending on how many episodes are made (Chances are that it will all be dubbed at once), this show would seem likely for Toonami.

The Justice League's Little Sidekick Team gets a Trailer Posted Friday, June 6, 2003, 9:10PM by KnuxFive
"Not in the ""Mobile Game Unit"" way, but in the ""commercial"" kinda way.

Teen Titans, the junior Justice League with Robin (Tim Drake), Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy, and... uhh... the goth girl... Raven, that's it (Thanks Vincent!), will be premiering on Cartoon Network's Saturday Video Entertainment System, but with CN's track record of the DC universe, chances are pretty good that it will show up on Toonami. CN could do a special week-long showing of the first five episodes or something. Now, if SVES was Super Saturdays, Toonami could have the first premiere of a DC show...

Dangit, I was rambling. Sorry. The trailer can be seen at Cartoon Network's Teen Titans site.

Bat-Suit up for the First Time... Eventually Toonami. Posted Wednesday, June 4, 2003, 10:38PM by KnuxFive
"You know a few years down the road, this will be... Only Toonami.

Warner Brothers is making a new Batman animated series. Based on his earlier years, think of it as a animated Year One story... probably not as gritty, hopefully fitting in the established continuity... Naturally, Bruce Wayne will be the star (Could Kevin Conroy pull a younger Bruce off?) and chances are that Alfred will be the main father figure, but who knows.. it's going to be done by the Static Shock crew.

Click ""Read More"" for some speculation and a timeline...

Source: Toon Zone

Well, here's my take on the animated DCU timeline...

Early '90s- Batman: The Animated Series
Late '90s/Early 2K- Superman: The Animated Series/The New Adventures of Batman/Static Shock
Mid 2K- Justice League/Teen Titans
2039 on- Batman Beyond/The Zeta Project

There are many ways this project could go... they could forget the current world and do a ""Bruce Wayne in high school, 2003"" thing, or a ""Bruce travels the world training, ala The Mummy, 2003"". They could stay in the continuity and actually date Bruce to being a kid in the early '70s, but that seems unlikely. While it might jump to mind, seeing an animated take on Year One just seems unlikely, especially if it will air on Kids' WB.

Don't worry, it will eventually be Toonami.

June Bugs, only Toonami." Posted Wednesday, June 4, 2003, 1:03AM by andromaton
"Just to let you people know the 72 hour tribute to the worlds favorite rabbit will not interupt Toonami as it will be airing on Boomerang.

It begins not interupting Toonami at 8.0a on Friday, June 6th and will continue not interupting it through 8.0a on Monday, June 9th.

Toonami Episode Guide for the Week of June 2nd Posted Monday, June 2, 2003, 10:56AM by KnuxFive
"Here is the schedule for this week's Toonami.

I love these schedule change days. Yes, the Shuffle Alliance is no longer with us, but the Justice League has taken their place. They're not starting at episode one, but excluding a Sunday airing, Justice League IS only Toonami. Dragonball Z drags through Season 6, Yu Yu Hakusho sprints through Season 2, and Rurouni Kenshin wanders through Season 1, with Season 2 starting next week.
